Got a MAG box and want it running IPTV in the UK? You're in the right place. MAG boxes are among the best dedicated IPTV devices going — purpose-built for streaming, with a clean menu and reliable performance. Here's the whole setup from scratch.
What a MAG box actually is
A MAG box is a set-top box made by Infomir for one job: IPTV. Where a Firestick or Android box runs a general-purpose operating system, a MAG box runs a lightweight Linux system built entirely around IPTV, which is why it tends to feel snappier and crash less for live TV.
The MAG models you'll see most in the UK:
- MAG 322 / 322W — entry-level, dependable for HD
- MAG 420 / 420W — handles 4K UHD, quicker processor
- MAG 524 / 524W3 — top of the range, 4K HDR, dual-band Wi-Fi
What you'll need first
- A MAG box (322, 420 or 524 recommended)
- An IPTV UK subscription with a portal URL
- An HDMI cable
- An ethernet cable or Wi-Fi
- A TV with an HDMI input
No subscription yet? IPTV UK runs a free 3-hour trial over WhatsApp — no card needed. Plans start at £15 a month (about £5 a month over a year) with 50,000+ channels across UK entertainment, sport, films and news.
Setting up a MAG box for IPTV UK, step by step
Step 1 — Connect the box
- Plug the MAG box into your TV with the HDMI cable
- Connect to your router by ethernet (steadier) or set up Wi-Fi in Settings
- Power it on and let it boot — the first boot takes about 30–60 seconds
Step 2 — Enter the portal URL
The MAG box reaches your service through a portal URL, which your provider gives you when you subscribe (you'll usually send them the box's MAC address first so they can authorise it).
- On the home screen, open Settings
- Go to System Settings → Servers → Portals
- In Portal 1 URL, type the portal URL from your provider
- In Portal 1 Name, put any label (e.g. "IPTV UK")
- Press OK to save
Step 3 — Reboot and load
- Return to the main menu and choose Reboot
- The box restarts and connects to the portal on its own
- The full channel list appears — allow 1–2 minutes on the first load
Step 4 — Find your way around
Once it's loaded:
- Use the remote to move through categories (Sport, Entertainment, News, Kids)
- Press OK to open a channel
- Use the EPG button for the programme guide
- Press Back to return to the list

MAG box vs Firestick — which suits UK IPTV?
| Feature | MAG box | Firestick |
|---|---|---|
| Setup effort | Medium | Easy |
| Performance | Excellent | Good |
| 4K support | Yes (420+) | Yes (4K model) |
| App flexibility | IPTV only | Full Android apps |
| Price | £50–£120 | £30–£55 |
| Best for | A dedicated IPTV setup | Mixed streaming use |
For pure IPTV, the MAG box edges it — the dedicated hardware and software mean fewer crashes, faster channel switching and more consistent streams. If you want one device for Netflix, apps and IPTV, the Firestick is the more flexible pick.
Fixing common MAG box issues
Portal won't load
- Re-check the portal URL — a single wrong character breaks it
- Confirm your internet is actually up
- Reboot both the MAG box and the router
- Ask your provider to confirm the portal URL is still active
Buffering or freezing
- Swap Wi-Fi for ethernet for a steadier link
- Check your speed — 25 Mbps or more for 4K
- Ask your provider on WhatsApp whether there's an alternative server URL
No channels showing
- Your subscription may have lapsed — check with your provider
- Refresh the portal: Settings → System Settings → Servers → Portals → reboot

50,000+ UK channels on your MAG box
IPTV UK works with every MAG model. Once you subscribe, the portal URL loads straight away and gives you:
- UK sport — football, cricket, motorsport, golf
- European sport — club football, wrestling and more
- UK entertainment and news (via the portal)
- 50,000+ international channels across sport, entertainment and news
- 200,000+ on demand — films and series refreshed regularly
- A full UK programme guide (EPG)
Plans start at £15 a month, or about £5 a month over a year. No contract, and a free 3-hour trial on WhatsApp before you commit.
